About

Meet Sean

Sean has had a lifelong love for the law. Raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, he knew from an early age that his calling in life was to become an attorney. He graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minors in History and Sociology, then pursued his legal degree at Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he graduated in 2012.

Sean’s legal career began at The Law Office of Dana E. Morris (2008–2009) and The Law Office of Laura Edwards (2012). He then moved to the Mankato area in 2017 and joined Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, where he practiced family law for six years. During that time he rose to the role of Supervising Family Law Attorney (2022–2023), specializing in representing victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and harassment. This position gave him the opportunity to zealously advocate for his clients and gain extensive courtroom experience.

In 2023, excited to expand his practice, Sean joined the Fifth Judicial District Public Defender’s Office where he practiced criminal law through 2024. This role allowed him to develop significant additional trial advocacy skills. He was also one of a few individuals who regularly represented juveniles in criminal matters, giving him unique insight into the juvenile justice system.

Sean joined Birkholz Law in 2025 where he practices both family law and criminal law. His background representing domestic violence victims gives him a unique perspective in both practice areas, allowing him to approach cases with empathy and a thorough understanding of the dynamics involved.

Sean has been married to his wife for over 26 years and has been a resident of Eagle Lake since 2017. They have two adult sons, a dog and two cats. In his free time Sean enjoys traveling with his wife, home improvement projects, woodworking and fishing.
