Entry Level Family and Criminal Law Attorney

 

Birkholz & Associates, LLC, with offices in Mankato and St. James, MN, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed or early-career attorney to develop expertise in family and criminal law while gaining valuable courtroom experience. With support and mentorship, you’ll gradually build your skills and confidence to manage your own caseload.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with cases in family law (e.g., divorce, custody, child support) and criminal law (e.g., misdemeanors, felonies, and juvenile offenses).
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and court documents.
• Appear in court for hearings, trials, and other proceedings under the guidance of experienced attorneys.
• Participate in client consultations and provide well-informed advice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide exceptional service to our clients.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Minnesota (or in the process of obtaining licensure).
• Strong interest in family and/or criminal law and litigation.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Organized, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
