Sean Morris

Attorney

Sean has had a lifelong love for the law. Raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, he knew from an early age that his calling in life was to become an attorney. Graduating from Eastern Oregon University in 2008 with a BS in Psychology, and minors in Anthropology and Sociology, Sean then pursued his legal degree at Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he graduated in 2012.

After a few years living in Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked in the area of Foreclosure law at DiTech, one of the largest mortgage servicing companies in the United States, Sean moved to the Mankato area in 2017 and began practicing family law at Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, a legal aid organization. There, he specialized in representing victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and harassment. This position gave him the opportunity to zealously advocate for his clients and gain a large amount of experience in the courtroom. In early 2023, excited to learn a new area of law, Sean changed course and began working as a public defender practicing criminal law in the Mankato area. This position allowed him to learn significant amount of additional courtroom and trial advocacy skills. The experience also taught him how to work with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. While in this position, in addition to representing individuals in misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony cases, he was also one of a few individuals who regularly represented juveniles in criminal matters. This experience allowed Sean to become proficient in practicing Juvenile delinquency law in Minnesota. Sean joined Birkholz Law in 2025 where he practices both family law and criminal law.

In his free time Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and family, spoiling his dogs, traveling, collecting and playing trading card and fantasy games, woodworking, and doing home improvement projects.
